Grading Scale

Grading, GPA and Class Rank

1. A student’s rank in class will be determined by the total grade points (TGP), not GPA, earned in full credit courses in grades nine through twelve. Rankings are calculated at the end of the sophomore year and each semester thereafter.

2. Grade points will be assigned by the following:

Letter Grade A+ A A- B+ B B- C+ C C- D+ D D-
AP/IB/DC 6.0 6.0 5.6 5.0 4.5 4.1 3.5 3.0 2.6 2.0 1.5 1.1
Honors 5.0 5.0 4.6 4.1 3.8 3.4 2.9 2.5 2.1 1.6 1.3 0.9
Regular 4.0 4.0 3.7 3.3 3.0 2.7 2.3 2.0 1.7 1.3 1.0 0.7

3. All classes that earn less than 1.0 credit will not be used in the calculations to determine the grade
point average or total grade points. A college course taken as a seventh class will receive regular credit
unless the Academic Policy Review Team grants prior approval. The maximum number of classes that
will apply to class rank or grade point average is seven per semester.
