KENNY HEAD – “The Legend” (400) 1965
Indiana State Champ 2 years, 1964 and 1965
College: University of New Mexico
Competed against all members of the USA Olympic 1600 meter relay team and was only
beaten by Lee Evans.
Indiana High School Hall of Fame
Best college time – 45.8 NCAA All-American 1966 and 1967.
Hamstring injury stopped his track career


JEFF WOODARD – (High Jump) 1977
Indiana State Champ
Still shares 13 year-old state record.
College: University of Alabama
Indiana High School Hall of Fame
Won S.E.C. freshman and senior years. At one time held the American Indoor High Jump
Record at 7’ 7 ¾ “ which he did at the Melrose Games at Madison Square Garden in New
York City. Also held NCAA outdoor record.

Captain of Track and Cross Country Teams his senior year


BILL ROBINSON – 1964
College: Indiana University
Sate 220 yard champ
Indiana High School Hall of Fame


TIM BRANDT – (Discus) 1981
College: Purdue
Big 10 champion his freshman and senior years.
Indiana High School Hall of Fame
Competed in and won the 1984 Pan American Games.


RON CLAYTON – 180 yard low hurdles 1968
State Champion 1968
Competed against two of the best hurdlers in the state who just happened to go to
Providence and Jeffersonville. They are: Roy Prince who won state in the 110 yd high
hurdles in 1967 and Steve Porter who won state in the 110 d high hurdles in 1968. All
three were state champs within a two year period.


DELMAR STUBBINS – (High Jump) 1984
College: University of Louisville
Made New Albany the only school in the state with two 7’ High Jumpers.
Qualified for State all three years of High School 82-83-84.


PAUL PUMPHREY – (Discus) 1989
College: Indiana State
Was sixth in the state in 1989
Was selected to represent Indiana in the Mid East Track and Field Meet. Finished sixth.


ANDRAE STUBBINS – (Shot Put) 1990
College: University of Louisville
10th in the state 1990


GERALD HARRISON – (High Hurdles, Low Hurdles, 1600 Relay) 1980-1981
College: Western Kentucky University
Was 3rd in state in low hurdles
Was 9th in state in high hurdles
Scored 127 points in his senior year
First member of the 100 point club


TERRY HARRISON – (High Hurdles, Low Hurdles, 1600 Relay) 1991
College: Vincennes University. Transferred to U of L 1994.
Scored 139 ¾ team points his senior year.
Member of 6th place 1600 meter relay team.
Qualified for NCAA in high hurdles.


DOUG CROSS – (Cross Country) 1982
College: Purdue
Two year State Finalist on 1600 relay team. Team captain.
Lettered and attended state i8n 3 sports – track, cross country, and wrestling.
All State Cross Country in 1991.


JOE CARROLL – (Pole Vault) 1956
College: Indiana University
State Champion Pole Vault 1955
Was the last of the bamboo vaulters.


TOM HUTCHINSON – (High Jump, Shot Put) 1959
College: University of Kentucky
State Finalist in High Jump and Shot Put.
State’s best all-around athlete


JON JONES – (100, 200, 400) 1992-1994
College: Vincennes University
Indiana State Champion 1994
Was the 3rd fastest 400 prep runner in the nation 1994.
Is 5th state champion in New Albany history


WES SEACAT – (3200 Relay, 800, 1600, 3200) 2000-2003
College: University of Louisville
6th at State in 1600m Junior year (2002)
Graduated with 2nd best time in NA history in 1600m
Graduated with 3rd best time in NA history in 3200m
6th at State in 1600m Senior year (2003)


RONNIE STRINGER – (100, 200, 400 Relay, 1600 Relay) 2000-2003

Graduated tied for 2nd best time in NA history 100m
